Due to continued growth and expansion, we are looking for a skilled CNC Team Leader to lead our Machine Shop shift team. As Machine Shop Team Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the CNC shop floor, ensuring that production targets are met efficiently and safely. The role requires strong technical knowledge of CNC machining processes, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills. You will lead a small team of CNC Operators, Setters and Programmers, providing guidance, support, and training as necessary along with setting and operating machines when not fulfilling other Team Leader duties.
About the role
1. General supervision of Machine Shop;
2. Support, coach, mentor, train and develop team. Highlight training gaps
3. Ensure team are working efficiently, effectively and are on target to deliver
4. Ensure production schedules are met and set clear objectives
5. Drive improvements in efficiencies
6. Actively interpret technical drawings, program, set up and operate CNC machinery accordingly
7. Supervise machines and team during operation, making real-time adjustments for enhanced results
8. Report and document any discrepancies in operations, including maintenance faults
9. Generate a detailed shift handover
10. Oversee process changes within the team and department
11. Attend meetings for production / contract updates as required
12. Write CNC milling programs for all machines as required (Fanuc, Edgecam / Cadcam)
13. Set up and develop new and existing products on machine centres
14. Assist and advise in the design and jigs and fixtures
15. Maintain and control a current program register and tool inventory
16. Create SOPs, setup sheets and other documents to aid in production
About you
17. Recent and relevant Machine Shop Team Leading / Supervisory experience
18. Experience with precision measurement instruments
19. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
20. Strong math skills for measurements and calculations
21. Able to demonstrate excellent manufacturing practices
22. A flexible approach to be able to adapt to changing and challenging requirements
23. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
24. Ability to remain focused on Quality and consistently reiterate its importance to others
25. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to generate innovative concepts and ideas
