Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with mental health challenges? We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, empathetic, and committed to helping children overcome barriers to learning in a nurturing environment.
Your Responsibilities
* Prepare and assist the teacher, and independently lead groups of children to complete activities, helping with classroom tasks.
* Provide a caring, inclusive atmosphere where every child feels safe, valued, and excited to learn.
* Support students experiencing mental health difficulties, helping them engage in learning and build confidence.
* Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to create a supportive classroom environment.
* Offer emotional and behavioural support using de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement.
* Foster strong relationships with students, providing a listening ear and reassurance.
* Support students in small groups or on a one-to-one basis as needed.
* Assist in delivering fun and educational lessons across all subjects.
* Support the social, emotional, and academic development of each child.
* Complete group tasks with children independently.
* Collaborate with the lead teacher to ensure high educational standards.
* Create a stimulating classroom environment encouraging exploration and growth.
* Communicate effectively with parents and carers to support student progress, when required.
Requirements
* Previous experience working with children or adults with mental health needs, ALN, or in a pastoral/support role is highly desirable.
* A patient, calm, and understanding nature with the ability to build trust.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work flexibly and adapt to different situations.
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant Diploma) are desirable but not essential.
* Enthusiastic, creative, and passionate about teaching young children.
* Experience in an educational setting is preferred but not essential.
* Patient, caring, and capable of nurturing each student's potential.
* A positive role model who builds strong relationships with children, staff, and parents.
* A team player open to new ideas and collaboration.

All pay rates quoted are inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This is a temporary position, with potential for permanence in the future.
