Tutor of Functional Skills English (Apprenticeships)
Hours: 27.75 hours per week (0.75 fte)
Salary: Up to £40, pro rata per annum (subject to experience and qualifications). Plus generous benefits including:
1. 55 days annual leave per year pro rata (including bank holidays and efficiency closures)

3. Financial support towards teacher training course fees if you do not have a recognised Level 5 teaching qualification (Cert Ed/PGCE) – worth up to £6,000 over two years
About the role
York College is seeking to appoint a Functional Skills English tutor to join the Foundation English and Maths team. You will be a dedicated and motivated professional with a passion for helping students improve their literacy skills in pursuit of their apprenticeship. You will also contribute to the delivery strategies to improve the delivery and quality of English teaching and learning for our apprentices.
About the person
You will be qualified up to at least Level 3 in English and a relevant degree qualification (or equivalent) would be desirable. You will be an enthusiastic, flexible and innovative teacher with experience of delivering Functional Skills English, preferably in a FE context. The ideal candidate will have experience of teaching the City & Guilds Functional Skills English specification and have taught this to a wide range of students. Excellent administration and interpersonal skills together with a commitment to working effectively as part of a team are also essential in this role.
