Poundland is looking for a dynamic and motivated Transport Shift Manager to lead our Transport team in Harlow. You’ll work alongside Transport Team Managers, Operatives, and Clerical Colleagues to ensure smooth operations while hitting key performance targets.
As a Transport Shift Manager, you’ll be an integral part of our mission to deliver high-quality service to our stores, helping us maintain our position as a leading retailer across the UK and Europe.
Your leadership will be crucial in driving operational excellence. You'll inspire your team to meet performance targets, deliver exceptional service to our stores, and manage key performance indicators (KPIs). By coaching and developing your team, you’ll ensure we maintain high performance, safety, and efficiency throughout our distribution Centre.
Working shift pattern - 5/7 days and covering 6am-4pm 10am-8pm

* Lead and motivate Transport Team Managers and their teams to achieve operational excellence.
* Collaborate with internal teams such as Stock Control, Transport, and HR to ensure smooth operations.
* Manage and control budgets, delivering continuous improvement in KPIs.
* Ensure compliance with Health & Safety protocols and all relevant regulations.
* Support team members' development with effective coaching and personal development plans.
* Work with external partners, including contractors and suppliers, to ensure efficiency and productivity.
* Take ownership of the distribution centre when required in the absence of senior managers.
* Drive process improvements and implement solutions to meet operational challenges.
* Ensure vehicles are loaded safely and dispatched on time, working closely with the Transport Manager.
* Educated to A-level or equivalent, with a solid background in FMCG distribution.
* Proven leadership skills with experience managing large teams in a distribution environment.
* Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and distribution operations.
* Financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets and deliver cost-effective solutions.
* Proficiency in time management, prioritisation, and multi-tasking in a fast-paced setting.
* Experience with systems such as Time and Attendance, Vitesse, and WMS.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative work environment.
* A hands-on approach, working alongside your team to inspire and achieve results.
