We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Locum Consultant in Urology, based at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The job role involves supporting a well established and collaborative department, focused on excellent, person-centred care. The post-holder will be involved in diagnostic and core urological activity. The department has a keen interest in developing further complimentary sub-specialist areas and the job role would enjoy support in training and development.

Main duties of the job
The principle duty of this post is to provide a comprehensive clinical service to patients within the trust area.
* To, at all times, comply with the GMC requirements of Duties of a Doctor.
* To ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
* To undertake duties as defined within the attached job plan in so far as practicable and in agreement with your clinical director.
* To be responsible and managerially accountable for the reasonable and effective use of any Trust resources that you use and influence, and professionally accountable to the Medical Director.
* On commencement to ensure personal attendance at the Trust's Corporate Induction.
* To participate in the Trust's statutory and mandatory training programme.
* To fully participate in the Consultant Peer Support Scheme and ensure personal attendance, when invited, at the Consultant Development Programme during your first year in post.
* To be responsible for the clinical management of in and out patients under your care.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registerable medical qualification and FRCS or equivalent.
* Full Registration with GMC and completed subspecialty training programme in Urology.
* An appropriate higher qualification.
* MD or equivalent Higher Degree or evidence of relevant research.
* Ability to supervise postgraduate research.
* Substantive NHS experience.
Clinical practice/competence
* Ability to demonstrate clinical experience and skill in all core urology and associated procedures.
* Ability to demonstrate 5 years of core clinical urology work or equivalent.
* Knowledge of good medical practice and the General Medical Council requirements.
* Demonstrates a sound knowledge of clinical governance practice.
* Independently able to perform Trans perineal biopsies under Local Anaesthetic.
* Sub-specialist interest to complement the department.
