Job summary
An exciting opportunity for a Senior Medical secretary has arisen to work as part of our busy Dermatology team. Providing secretarial support for the consultants, junior medical staff in the team with particular responsibility for audio typing and cross cover for leave as delegated by Admin Support Officer
The post holder will be required to demonstrate a significant level of initiative in organising their workload and in making decisions and taking action in accordance with departmental policy.
Main duties of the job
To type all correspondence relating to out patients and in patients, including typing of departmental correspondence, with a low rate of errors and to meet Trust turnaround targets.
Regularly liaising with Team Leader to ensure departmental priorities are met.
Managing consultant's diaries, booking meetings and taking minutes where appropriate.
Arrange patients new and follow up appointments as required using PAS system and liaison with appropriate departments
Receive enquires from patients and staff, resolving enquiries of a more complex nature and dealing with as appropriate.
To provide cross cover for secretarial team during annual leave and sickness
Co-operate with the introduction of new procedures, policies or technology, including any technology associated with the Patient Administration System (PAS), assisting team leads with implementation
