Senior Visual/UI Designer (12 month FTC)
Department: Design
Employment Type: Fixed Term - Full Time
Location: London
Description
Hybrid: 2 days/week in-office
Type: Full time, 12 month fixed term contract (maternity cover)
At Uswitch, our goal is to be the UK’s favourite way to choose and manage home-life essentials - from broadband and mobiles to energy and insurance. As we continue to grow and expand our services, we are looking for talented individuals who share our passion for making a positive impact on people's lives. If you want to be part of a team that is transforming the way consumers navigate their household services, we would love to hear from you.
As an organisation we do this through designing personalised, customer-centric product experiences that reduce pain points customers experience when changing providers. As a design community we are inclusive, we challenge convention, and we continuously innovate to deliver brand and product experiences that are widely recognised as market-leading.
About the role:
As a Senior Visual Designer, your role is to lead and craft fresh visuals and aesthetics of Uswitch experiences across web, app and digital touchpoints. You will work closely with our cross-functional teams and designers (made up of Product Designers, Visual Designers, Content Designers, Brand and Engineers) to design products and services that engage and delight Uswitch customers across all digital touchpoints, and print for internal teams and use.
What you’ll be doing
* Execute the Uswitch visual identity across our digital products and services to provide a customer experience that connects emotionally with the Uswitch customer base, builds trust, and enables customers to easily flow through product journeys.
* Drive experience innovation by exploring and designing new and exciting approaches to UI design that meet strategic goals for products, services and features.
* Drive consistency and quality across all Uswitch experiences by co-owning, managing and regularly contributing to the Design System.
* Provide considered and substantiated visual design feedback and direction to our Product Design teams.
* Champion creativity and design thinking within the organisation, inspiring the design community with regular knowledge sharing from the brand, product and visual design industry.
* Pair with the Uswitch engineering teams to execute and deploy interactive front-end experiences to a very high standard.
* Discover, create and iterate on engaging visual concepts that align with the brand by utilising elements such as colour schemes, font choices, artistic direction, icons, and illustrations. Demonstrate how these ideas are applied across different branding and marketing platforms.
What we're looking for
* Strong visual design skills with an understanding of the fundamentals of your craft and how to utilise them effectively.
* You care about the quality of your work and have great attention to detail.
* Great at communicating your thinking behind your work.
* Experience of designing across all digital touch points and devices (mobile, tablet and desktop).
* A collaborative working style, strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work well in small group settings as well as independently.
* Continually driving new ideas and new styles across the product.
* Passionate about contributing to a growing design community internally and externally.
* Manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines and project requirements.
We are looking for a portfolio that demonstrates your thinking behind the ‘final’ visuals. What did you do and why did you do it? It must also demonstrate that you have worked on digital products across multi touch points and platforms.
You don’t need to tick off everything on this list - so don’t let that hold you back from applying. We want to make sure you’re learning plenty during your time with us!
What we offer
We want to give you a great work environment, support your growth both personally and professionally, and provide benefits that make your time at RVU even more enjoyable. Here are some of the benefits you can look forward to:
* 10% discretionary yearly bonus and yearly pay reviews (based on RVU and personal performance).
* A hybrid working approach with 2 in-office days per week and up to 22 working days per year to “work from anywhere.”
* Employer matching pension contributions up to 7.5%.
* A one-off £300 “Work from Home” budget to help contribute towards a great work environment at home.
* Excellent maternity, paternity, shared parental and adoption leave policy, for those key moments in your life.
* 25 days holiday (increasing to 30 days) + 2 days “My Time” per year.
* Private medical cover, critical illness cover, dental plans and employee assistance programme.
* Employee discounts programme.
* A healthy learning and training budget.
* Electric vehicle and cycle to work schemes.
* Free in-office gym, accessible 7 days a week.
* Free breakfast in the office daily.
* You’ll be equipped with great technology (choice of Mac or Windows).
* Free access to the Calm and Peppy app for physical and mental health.
* Regular events - from team socials to company-wide events with insightful external speakers, we want to make sure our colleagues continue to feel connected.
*As a tech company who strives to get better every day, we use Metaview during the interview processes for note taking purposes. This records and transcribes interviews so the interviewer can fully focus on your conversation, rather than writing. This has no bearing on the assessment of you as a candidate and you can opt out at any time. Just let us know.
