They are currently seeking a compassionate and proactive Housing Support Worker to join their team and help make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals across East London, SE London, and Barnet. Role Overview: As a Housing Support Worker, you will work directly with rough sleepers and individuals at risk of homelessness, providing tailored support to help them secure and maintain accommodation. Based primarily in their office in Tower Hamlets, you will be responsible for conducting assessments, creating support plans, and offering practical and emotional support to clients. This is a challenging yet rewarding role where your work will have a direct impact on individuals' lives. Key Responsibilities: Provide practical and emotional support to rough sleepers and individuals at risk of homelessness in East London, SE London, and Barnet. Conduct initial assessments and develop individual support plans to meet the specific needs of clients. Assist clients in securing suitable accommodation, navigating the housing system, and understanding their rights and options. Liaise with local authorities, housing providers, and other support services to ensure clients receive the appropriate help and services. Provide advocacy and support to clients during appointments, including with housing, benefits, and health services. Monitor and review the progress of clients, adjusting support plans as necessary. Offer practical advice on budgeting, managing tenancy responsibilities, and integrating into the community. Promote and uphold the values of respect, dignity, and empowerment, ensuring that clients are treated with empathy and professionalism. Key Requirements: Previous experience in housing support, homelessness services, or social care (preferred but not essential). Strong understanding of homelessness issues and the challenges faced by rough sleepers. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with vulnerable individuals. Knowledge of the housing system, local authority processes, and related welfare benefits. Empathetic, non-judgmental, and proactive approach to working with clients. Ability to work independently, manage a caseload, and meet deadlines.
