Role profile: The Benchmark Surveillance Specialist will play a key role in ensuring that FTSE Russell meets regulatory requirements and will work closely with other areas of the business such as Legal, Compliance and Operations. The role presents an opportunity to work in small but dynamic team, primarily investigating and handling surveillance alerts on regulated benchmarks, using market leading surveillance software. Opportunities will exist to work on a number of levels including; daily surveillance alert management, alert scenario design, testing, reporting, working with 3rd party surveillance system providers and escalation management. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate strong analytical skills coupled with a sound knowledge of financial benchmarks. The role will demand the candidate to work both independently and as part of a team where required. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: Investigate and build appropriate case profiles from Surveillance alerts covering FTSE Russell Benchmarks across multiple asset classes (mainly Foreign Exchange – WMR Benchmarks and Money Markets) Engage with colleagues in compliance and the benchmark business units to provide surveillance services Maintain Surveillance system configurations (e.g. Holiday tables, Tolerances) Contribute to the design, implementation and testing of new benchmarks & surveillance check scenarios Produce, enhance and regularly review collaborator reporting (e.g. Dashboards) Present surveillance reporting at various forums (e.g. Benchmark Oversight Committees) Work alongside the Surveillance manager to continuously improve workflow and escalation procedures WHAT YOU'LL BRING: The candidate will be at a senior/experienced analyst level and be able to communicate optimally to the respective benchmark oversight committees, compliance, business and operations team. Skills and experience Excellent analytical skills (including Microsoft Excel) with a focus on detail Strong understanding of Financial Markets and Benchmarks Good understanding of basic mathematical statistics Proven understanding of applicable global benchmark regulatory rules (particularly the UK Benchmark Regulation and IOSCO Principles for Financial Benchmarks) Ability to present complex issues in a clear and concise manner, ensuring that team members can quickly understand underlying issues Excellent presentation and communication (both written and verbal) skills Ability to handle incidents & escalation to different levels of the benchmarks organisation Capable of challenging and offering solutions Accomplished at working across borders in a culturally diverse organisation Previous experience of working in financial markets or a regulatory surveillance environment preferred but not essential WHAT YOU’LL GET IN RETURN: We recognise that to attract the best talent, we need to be flexible, and we are open to discussing work arrangements with you.
