Photonics Engineer – Oxford | Hybrid | £60K-£90K DOE We’re looking for a Photonics Engineer to join our client’s team, developing cutting-edge hardware solutions across a range of advanced applications. Responsibilities: Design and develop packaging and integration solutions for photonic integrated circuits (PICs), including system-in-package designs, material selection, and thermal management. Prototype and test fibre-optic systems and optoelectronic assemblies. Evaluate and select photonic components (lasers, splitters, photodiodes, fibre cables), considering performance, material properties, and supply chain factors. Support PIC wafer runs throughout design, manufacturing, packaging, and testing phases. Develop and execute test plans for photonic components and optoelectronic devices, analysing data and refining designs.Requirements: 5 years’ experience in photonics, with expertise in designing or characterising photonic/optoelectronic devices in industry or academia. Strong knowledge of photonics, fibre optics, PICs, packaging, and material properties. Degree (BSc, MSc, PhD) in Photonics, Optoelectronics, Physics, or a related field.Preferred Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive approach. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail.
