Terberg DTS UK is looking for a Engineer Heavy Vehicle Technician to join our Workshop Team.
What is the job role?
Perform a variety of routine servicing, inspections (VOSA standards), and subsequent repairs on a range of Distribution Tractors, heavy vehicles, and associated equipment, ensuring all work meets manufacturer standards. Conduct comprehensive visual and operational checks, diagnosing issues and carrying out repairs using advanced diagnostic tools, technical manuals, and systematic troubleshooting techniques.
A range of technical competencies, including:
* Proficiency in mechanical systems repair.
* Electrical fault diagnosis and repair, including CAN bus systems and multiplex wiring.
* Interpretation and application of technical drawings, schematics, and service bulletins.
* Use of diagnostic tools for engine management systems.
* Perform in-depth technical inspections and assessments of vehicles, using industry-standard inspection criteria and producing detailed, accurate reports to facilitate effective repair planning.
Ensure adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations, including safe use of tools, PPE compliance, and proper workshop housekeeping practices.
Requirements and what we are looking for
* To display the highest standards of appearance, manner, and technical ability at all times.
* To accurately and quickly fault diagnose and undertake resultant repairs, including working on a range of makes and models.
* To be able to undertake vehicle servicing, repair, and other related work.
* To complete all vehicle servicing and repair documentation correctly, in a timely manner and to a good standard.
* To be able to interpret and remedy vehicle defect descriptions communicated by vehicle users.
* To be willing to assist colleagues in the execution of their jobs as required.
* There will be an element of manual handling involved.
* Support with planned mobile repair work in support of the Field Service Team, demonstrating flexibility where required.
* To work with all departments, particularly with projects that are being explored or implemented.
* Undertake any other duties consistent with the purpose of this job or to support the needs of the business.
* To maintain a high standard of customer service at all times.
* Develop own competence to meet requirements of job.
* Minimum City & Guilds NVQ Lv3 Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician or automotive equivalent.
* Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a workshop or engineering environment.
* Strong technical expertise in machinery/equipment/automotive maintenance and repair.
