Job summary
We have an exiting opportunity for a Senior Pharmacy Technician - Homecare.
The post holder will be working alongside the Lead Pharmacy Technician in Homecare & High-Cost Drugs to process homecare prescription and review and submit high-cost drug funding applications.
This is a full time vacancy, for hours a week, Monday to Friday, shifts covering between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The post holder will be expected to participate in weekend/bank holiday and late duty rotas in the dispensary and will be expected to support the stores & distribution team in carrying out routine stores activities during period of heavy workload.
Main duties of the job
The applicant will need to be familiar with the NHS Hospital homecare medicines service and have knowledge of high-cost drugs.
The successful candidate will be IT literate, have good communication skills, ability to work alone using own initiative and the ability to work with and contribute to a team.

The post holder will be expected to liaise with staff within pharmacy, within the Trust and external organisations.
The post holder will also need to attend homecare sourcing group meetings to ensure WHTH is consistently represented and actively contribute to the work plan of this group.
Person Specification
Education and qualifications:
Essential
1. NVQ Level 3 and/or BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent.
2. Evidence of further post qualification training.
3. Current registration as Pharmacy Technician with General Pharmaceutical Council.
Desirable
4. Accredited Checking Technician Qualification.
Knowledge:
Essential
5. Good stock control principles.
6. In depth knowledge of NHS Hospital Pharmacy Computer System.
7. NHS Hospital organisational structure.
8. Good dispensing practice.
9. NHS Hospital Homecare Medicines Service.
10. Knowledge of high-cost drugs.
11. Laws and principles related to information security and confidentiality.
12. Laws and principles related to Health and Safety.
13. Laws and ethics related to Pharmacy and pharmaceuticals.
Desirable
14. In depth knowledge of the EMIS Pharmacy System.
Experience:

15. Significant post qualification NHS hospital experience including Pharmacy Homecare Services and procurement.
