Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:- Provide hands-on support to patients under the guidance of qualifiedOccupational Therapists, assisting with therapeutic activities, exercises, and daily living tasks.- Support patients in developing, improving, or maintaining their independence and quality of life through tailored interventions.- Assist in the assessment and evaluation of patients' progress, recordingobservations, and reporting significant changes to the Occupational Therapist.- Contribute to the planning and implementation of individualised care plans, ensuring a patient-centred approach.- Liaise effectively with the multidisciplinary team, patients, and their families toensure coordinated care.- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient interactions andinterventions in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.- Provide informal mentorship and guidance to junior support staff, ensuring adherence to best practices and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and supervision as required, actively contributing to the development of the service.

Qualifications
Essential
1. Educated to GCSE (A-C in Maths and English) or similar level
2. Minimum of two years working as a Band 2 Occupational Therapy assistant or similar experience
3. Able to work as part of the OT team and MDT
Desirable
4. NVQ or equivalent in health related subject
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
5. Computer Literate - Microsoft word
6. Able to work within guidelines and protocols
7. Able to adhere to trust and departmental documentation standards
8. Knowledge of the role of Occupational Therapy and demonstrates an understanding of the impact of disability on the the individual
9. Ability to liaise with other agencies, statutory public services or independent
10. Ability to work on a regular basis
Desirable
11. Working knowledge of electronic patient record
12. Previous experience of working in a medical setting
13. Understanding of common medical conditions and Terminology
