Band 7 – full time trainee role
Are you a respiratory nurse or allied health professional with a minimum of 5 years clinical experience? Are you interested in joining our exciting new health care plans to appoint a new trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) role to our well-established respiratory ACP team to support provision of Long Term Ventilation (LTV), Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) service alongside our successful high dependency bed expansion for children & young people with specialist respiratory care needs?
· Respiratory services comprise of our acute respiratory care (Leopard), longer term care (Kangaroo), and high dependency areas with strong links to our paediatric intensive care & International Private Patients (IPP).
The Trainee ACP role will be at band 7, weekdays only, with a substantive ACP role on completion of academic training at a recognised Health Education Institution and local specialist capabilities, skills and knowledge via an end point assessment.
Main duties of the job
Our respiratory services are committed to developing a sustainable Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) team supported by national guidance. Are you a clinical expert who puts the clinical and holistic care of infants and their families first to ensure safe, high quality and effective care on their respiratory clinical pathway? Do you have a vision to improve and change care provision for this specialised group of patients with respiratory care needs, how care is delivered, & sustainably measure this success?
You will develop professionally & personally across the 4 pillars of ACP: expert clinical practice & advanced clinical care skills, clinical leadership, case management, education, and wider evidence-based practice to support complex decision-making and improve care outcomes.
Trainee ACP – start date September 15, 2025
The higher education institution programme and the specialist training package will underpin the development of advanced capability & competency-based skills based on the Royal College of Paediatric and Child Health and national paediatric respiratory training standards over a 2.5 year master's training. You will have a named dedicated medical consultant & ACP supervisor to support your individual learning needs, as well as working within an experienced specialist respiratory team. You will record your learning and development in a professional e-portfolio. The hospital is currently linked to Middlesex University as our Higher Education Institute.
