Water and Waste business unit (WAW) is a true end-to-end business as part of Wärtsilä Portfolio Businesses. WAW is a global leader in designing and supplying innovative wet and dry waste equipment and freshwater generation solutions for passenger vessels & conventional waste management and ballast water treatment equipment for all marine segments. We have now a unique and exciting opportunity for a Purchasing Team Lead, New Build for the Water and Waste business, based in UK, Poole, Dorset.
As the Purchasing Team Lead, you will be responsible for the execution of the new build sourcing processes and activities, ensuring effective and efficient procurement with alignment with business needs, regulations and procurement plans.
What will you be doing?
* Support the Purchasing function to establish, maintain and monitor KPI’s to optimise supply chain performance in support of production requirements.
* Lead and manage the daily operative activities of the New Build Purchasing team.
* Lead / support / participate in negotiations for major activities.
* Manage cost build-up and support the bid process by reviewing and updating price books regularly and forming close connections with the Sales organisation to effectively manage risk.
* Manage build strategy with responsibility for all gate reviews up to handover to operational buyers to ensure optimum cash flow and working capital and budgetary targets are met.
* Work with the Planning team to maintain optimised inventory levels whilst maximising performance to customers.
* Reduction of sub-contract and free-issue requirements.
* Implement framework agreements for price, lead-time and material availability for key components or projects.
* Create an effective and business-focused working relationship with key internal customers; Product Planning, Sales, Finance, Logistics and Engineering.
* Report on agreed objectives and long-term strategies with the Wärtsilä Supply Chain or Wärtsilä Supply Management team as applicable.
* Execute / support material cost budgeting and follow-up.
To be successful in this role we expect you to have:
* Ideally possess Professional Qualifications in Procurement or working towards this.
* Excellent team building skills.
* Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
* Commercially astute with experience developing and implementing contracts.
* Confident communicator with the ability to effectively manage internal and external stakeholder relationships.
* Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to work under own initiative.
* Experience driving Supply Chain improvement and cost reduction.
* Experience within an engineering, manufacturing or technical environment would be an advantage.
* Ability to read/interpret engineering drawings and specifications desirable.
* Strong analytical skills and experienced using ERP and MRP systems (ideally SAP or similar).
* Good organisational skills with the ability to work well under pressure.
* Good IT skills and familiarity with MS Office tools.
