Welfare Officer - Job Overview
You'll be the first line of response for any accommodation and welfare issues for our international students during their stay; acting as general support to the centre, activity and academic management to ensure the programme is being delivered to a high standard.
You'll make sure everyone is up in the morning and back to bed in the evenings, and supervise meal times to make sure everything is running smoothly. Much of the day you might be "on call", ready to jump into action to support the centre and the students as necessary.
Centre Supervision
Your support will be invaluable in making sure the activity, academic programmes and the centre as a whole run smoothly.
You’ll be expected to:
* Supervise the busy meal times and assist with any dietary issues
* Monitor accommodation for room issues, damage etc
* Enforce curfew and quiet times
* Liaising with the centre + welfare management about any accommodation issues
* Helping groups around site if necessary
* Assisting with any doctor or A&E visits
Student Welfare
Many of our students may be away from home without their family and friends for the first time. Some may have a harder time than others adjusting to the experience.
You’ll be expected to:
* Be a friendly face and a listening ear to any students you identify that might need some extra support
* Run the tuck shop during the break between classes, and monitor its stock levels
* Have a good relationship with the students' Group Leaders so we have a good idea of any difficulties students may be facing
* Follow our Safeguarding procedure should it be necessary
Job Details
* Full Board - Accommodation and meals provided throughout your contract
* Salary - New WO, under 21- £350* per week, New WO, over 21 - £42.00* per week, Returning WO - £470* per week
* Holiday Pay - 12.07% holiday pay will be added to your salary.
* Travel Allowance - £30 one off payment to help towards the cost of travel to and from the centre.
* Working Hours - Up to 35 hours per week based on 6 working days.
* Available Contract Dates - Temporary - April, July & August 2025
* Pre-joining training dates - Staff are required to attend 2 x paid training days in advance of joining any programme.
Your Eligibility
You must
* be over 18 years of age
* be eligible to work in the UK
* get an enhanced DBS check**
* have a good level of English
You should
* be a natural host
* be responsible and proactive
* be diplomatic and respectful
* be organised and meticulous
It's a plus if
* your a first aider
* you've done this before!
