Consultant in Addiction Psychiatry
KG203280
As a result of additional funding to support the work of the Scottish Government Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) standards, we have a vacancy for a Consultant in Addiction Psychiatry.
This post is based within the Integrated Drug and Alcohol Team in Elgin. One of the attractions of working in Moray is a tradition of close working with colleagues from General Practice and the local authority. Since April 2016, this has been formalised as an Integrated Joint Board. The post is to provide consultant input to the Integrated Drug and Alcohol Team working across Moray.
The Royal Burgh of Elgin thrives as a centre of administration, education, tourism, and trade with agricultural, service, and textile industries. Situated in Scotland’s Castle and Whisky country, the area offers a wide range of recreational activities such as golf, fishing, hill walking, surfing, canoeing, cycling, horse riding, and winter sports. This is an opportunity to live and work in a beautiful part of Scotland that offers a great quality of life and has good transport links with the rest of the UK.
The postholder will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. The postholder will be expected to register with the Continuing Professional Development Programme of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, for which all costs will be met by NHS Grampian. There are opportunities for research and close links exist between the Service and the Departments of Mental Health and Psychology of the University of Aberdeen. The postholder will be expected to contribute to audit and other elements of clinical governance. A detailed job plan will be agreed with the successful candidate at the time of appointment to meet service needs, taking account of the experience, skills, and interests of the candidate and how they can best be used within the consultant team. The postholder will be expected to engage in annual appraisal towards revalidation.
Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required (licence to practise must be in place prior to starting in post). For more information visit www.gmc-uk.org.
Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from the date of interview. Alternatively, applicants should possess a CESR / CESR (CP).
