Job overview
Applications are invited from enthusiastic Specialist Doctor Grades. Applicants must have completed a minimum of 12 years' medical work (either continuous period or in aggregate) since obtaining a primary medical qualification of which a minimum of 6 years should have been in a relevant specialty in the Specialty Doctor and/or closed SAS grades or equivalent level.
The successful candidate will contribute to urgent & emergency care across the Urgent & Emergency Care Group, and will work as a part of the Urgent & Emergency Department team with a full shift rota.
Please note this position is based at Doncaster Royal Infirmary however includes cross site working meaning the successful candidate will be expected to pick up shifts at our Bassetlaw Site.
Main duties of the job
1. Managing a whole spectrum of emergency patients
2. Assistance and supervision of the F1, F2 and GPST doctors with the management of patients.
3. Strengthening the delivery of a high-quality Emergency Medicine service across the hospital and community.
4. Developing further links between Emergency Medicine and Acute Medicine
5. Developing innovative practices in clinical patient management, focusing on high quality care.
6. Developing a subspecialty interest.

Person specification
Qualifications
* MBchB/MBBS or equivalent
* Completed a minimum of 12 years’ medical work (either continuous period or in aggregate) since obtaining a primary medical qualification of which a minimum of 6 years should have been in a relevant specialty in the Specialty Doctor and/or closed SAS grades. Equivalent years’ experience in a relevant specialty from other medical grades including from overseas will also be accepted
* Must have or be eligible for full registration with the General Medical Council at time of appointment and continue to hold a License to Practise.
* Must meet the criteria set out in the Specialist grade generic capabilities framework
* FRCEM or equivalent achieved
* ALS (or equivalent)
* EPALS / PALS (or equivalent)
* ATLS / ETC (or equivalent)
Experience
* Must be able to demonstrate clinical experience and competence in all aspects of Emergency Medicine at a standard capable of leading the department overnight (EPIC)
* Capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge relevant to the role
Teaching and Training
* Experience of and enthusiasm for clinical teaching of postgraduate doctors and other healthcare professionals.
* Academic achievements/evidence of familiarity with research methods which have resulted in publications
Audit and Research
* Knowledge of Audit principles and evidence of participation in and completion of audit projects and the implementation of outcomes
* Critical Appraisal Skills
* Evidence of knowledge of research methodology
