Job Description Job Title Chief Project Engineer – Combat Engines Working Pattern Full time Working location Bristol What you will be doing This role is the accountable deputy to the programme Chief Engineer for all Combat Engineering matters on the EJ200 and RB199 products. You will work closely with the Chief Engineer and other members of the Whole Engine Definition (WED) Team and act as the primary interface for the Combat products on all technical issues with Customers, Operators & Airframers. The role is expected to contribute to programme strategy, driving product improvement and providing technical direction to the programme on all engineering deliverables. You will be required to work closely with core engineering leadership as required to sustain engineering efficacy and capability and will also work with Programme Director, Managers and Lead roles on a regular basis to ensure engineering effectiveness in the programme/value stream teams. Responsibilities In this role, you will: Ensure the creation, evolution, validation and maintenance of the product requirements through interfaces with the Customer (including airframer) and business across the entire life cycle of the programme. Define the technical Programmes that deliver a product that is fully compliant with all product and regulatory requirements and integrated with the other elements of the programme Work Breakdown Structure (e.g. supply chain, programme, Partner Company). Work with the Programme Management teams to ensure delivery of optimised technical solutions that satisfy all the product requirements (technical, business, schedule and regulatory). Provide continuous assistance to, and deputise for, the Chief Engineer in assuring and managing product safety through compliant use of processes and to lead safety management closure strategies to timely completion. As a representative of Rolls Royce and of the Chief Engineer you will support the Eurojet (EJ) and TurboUnion (TU) Consortia/Partner Companies in regular Engineering meetings and activities, both virtual and in person, which will require regular travel to EJ and TU premises as well as Partner Company facilities. You will: Be qualified to at least degree level or equivalent industry experience Be a member of a professional body and working towards a Registered Project Professional (RPP) qualification or equivalent. Have significant experience in the management of projects/Programmes of increasing complexity. Have experience in all stages of a project lifecycle and having had responsibility for the delivery of one or more of those stages. Have had exposure to non-core project management roles such as purchasing, commercial, engineering management etc. Have experience of setting up and managing multi-functional teams.
