JRL Environmental is a part of the JRL Group which encompasses 14+ divisions delivering bespoke solutions for the most complex construction projects. The company is a specialist within the haulage and waste sectors, with a fleet of over 100 HGV vehicles and depots nationwide.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Regional Transport Manager with haulage experience.
Role & Responsibilities
1. Manage the transport team in the allocation and prioritising of workload to increase efficiency.
2. Effective and regular liaising with all other relevant departments to ensure efficiency across our projects.
3. Ensure vehicle fleet is managed effectively i.e. vehicle compliance and vehicle servicing checks, and where necessary escalating any identified issues and recommending resolution at Director level.
4. Assist the admin team in maintaining records and systems to ensure that the vehicle/s are not overloaded.
5. Ensure that our vehicles are maintained properly, including the inspection of vehicles at the appropriate time and implementing actions to remedy any defects found.
6. Motivate the team to ensure all legislative requirements are communicated across the team.
7. Ensure that all authorised vehicles are kept at the authorised operating centre(s) when not in use.
8. Notify the relevant traffic commissioner of any changes to licence(s) or drivers that are necessary.
9. Actively develop the Transport team to increase engagement, communication, and people development.
10. Manage and collate necessary information and documentation to apply for (and maintain) FORS accreditation.
11. Ensure all drivers comply with driver hours and tachograph rules and adhere to legislation including speed limits.
Experience / Knowledge
1. At least two years’ experience in a similar logistics role.
2. Experience of FORS accreditation and going through this audit process.
3. Experience of managing HGV fleet.
4. Experience in Construction Logistics.
5. Experience working with Tipper/mixer trucks & aggregates.
6. Experience of managing an operator's licence.
7. Ideally some experience in the construction materials sector.
8. Working knowledge of health and safety legislation relevant to the workplace.
9. Strong computer skills – including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook as a minimum.
10. The ability to follow and provide clear instructions.
11. Strong organisational skills.
Qualifications
1. Transport Manager CPC National Qualification.
2. HGV class 1 & 2 would be a preference (this demonstrates hands-on experience in the role you will be managing).

1. Be proactive in getting to understand the wider business objectives and contribute ideas to increase efficiency and improve service.
2. Proactively contribute to the long-term resource planning of the Transport Department regarding assets and people resource (recruitment).
3. Proactively seek to understand the financial performance of the operation and take ownership for addressing inefficiencies which impact on the department's P&L.
4. Communicate with confidence to a wide range of stakeholders and be capable of working within a team as well as individually.
5. Take the lead in resolving unforeseen problems as they arise, ensuring appropriate resolution of these to utilize the learning to plan for future similar scenarios.
