They will undertake a wide range of procurement activities and assist in the development of the workplan and the delivery of the annual Cost Improvement Programme (CIP) target.The post holder will be required to ensure appropriate, robust contracts are in place across all of the Trusts’ services and that the service leads understand the procurement process. In addition the post holder will have responsibility for managing, motivating and developing the Contracts Team ensuring delivery of a fast, efficient and best value service throughout the organisation in a challenging climate. Main duties of the jobRaise the profile of the Procurement Department and promote the benefits of effective and best procurement practice by influencing Senior Managers and Clinicians to embrace the innovative alternatives to contribute towards the overall strategic aim of improving quality of care.Delegate specific areas of work within the Contracts Team ensuring that deadlines and outcomes are met and monitored, offering advice, support and guidance as required.To work closely with Public Sector colleagues in Greater Manchester and with NHS procurement colleagues across the North West as necessary.Provide professional support, procurement and legal advice to Senior Managers, Clinicians and other stakeholders and influence key decision makers to accept change where appropriate.Conduct complicated procurement exercises that require full understanding of customer requirements and interpretation of specifications to ensure that contracts are awarded appropriately.Undertake the negotiation of contracts where there may be complex choices that require full analysis of options and the need to obtain full customer support of recommendations.
