You will leverage your existing electrical experience while receiving specialised training and support to advance your career within the rail sector. Successful candidates will contribute to the maintenance and reliability of critical rail infrastructure, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of Rail systems such as UPS, Signalling, Lighting and Trackside infrastructure.

Role Overview: As an Electrical Technician you will be responsible for maintaining, inspecting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment within the rail distribution and plant infrastructure. This role ensures the safety, reliability, and efficiency of electricalassets critical to railway operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance and Repairs: Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on electrical systems, including transformers, switchgear, and distribution boards.
2. Inspections: Perform regular inspections of electrical installations to identify faults, wear, and potential safety hazards.
3. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve electrical issues promptly to minimise downtime and ensure continuous operation of railway services.
4. Installations: Assist in the installation and commissioning of new electrical equipment and systems within the rail network.
5. Compliance and Safety: Ensure all work complies with legislative standards, health and safety regulations, and relevant electrical codes.
6. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs for compliance and reporting purposes.
7. Collaboration: Work closely with other technicians, engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with other railway infrastructure.
Qualifications and Skills:
8. Qualification: Electrical bias apprenticeship – NVQ level 3 or City & Guilds or equivalent
9. Full Licence: Car or Motorbike due to the future on-call nature of the position.
10. Drug & Alcohol screening: Must be able to pass a drug & alcohol screening
Work Environment:
11. Locations: South Leicestershire
12. Hours: Shift work, including nights, weekends, and on-call duties to support 24/7 railway operations.
13. Safety Gear: Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to strict safety protocols at all times.
