DevOps/Platform Engineer
Salary: Circa £80,000, depending on experience
Location: Stevenage, Bolton or Bristol
Hybrid Working: 1-2 days per week on-site
Security Clearance: British Citizen (will need to undergo Security Clearances)
The Opportunity:
A unique opportunity has arisen for a skilled and passionate DevOps/Platform Engineer with expertise in Linux and Kubernetes technologies to join a renowned, multi-national Information Management function. This role is suited to candidates with a strong commitment to the future of DevOps and CAAS (Containers as a Service) technologies, and those who are eager to support a forward-thinking engineering community within a fast-paced development environment.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in deploying, securing, supporting, and improving containerised solutions, while guiding internal stakeholders in the effective use of Docker and Kubernetes. This position will involve managing the Kubernetes environment, ensuring its health and performance, and supporting future capacity planning. Collaboration with internal teams will also be required to drive automation efforts and facilitate rapid application development and testing.
This role offers the chance to work both nationally and internationally, providing opportunities to engage with diverse teams and innovative technologies. The position will allow candidates to contribute towards shaping the future of software-defined data centres and automation practices.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deploy, secure, and manage Docker and Kubernetes container solutions.
* Maintain the health and performance of the Kubernetes environment.
* Provide guidance and support to internal teams on container creation and usage.
* Automate deployment and configuration tasks using Ansible and other automation tools.
* Conduct workshops to educate colleagues on Kubernetes platforms.
* Support wider automation activities to enhance IT service delivery.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and best practices.
Skills and Experience Required:
* Expertise in Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher, Harbor, Helm, Nexus, Gitlab, and Ansible.
* Proficiency in Linux OS, particularly RHEL, with strong command line and scripting skills.
* Experience in automating deployment and configuration tasks using Ansible.
* Strong understanding of security best practices within Kubernetes environments.
* Analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to deliver training or workshops on Kubernetes.
* Knowledge of OpenShift and CI/CD pipelines would be advantageous.
