VDOT’s Fredericksburg District has an exciting opportunity available in its Residency Administration Department. We are seeking qualified candidates to fill a Residency Maintenance Program Coordinator vacancy. This position will assist the Fredericksburg Residency by monitoring maintenance related programmatic activities to ensure performance goals are met. They will ensure high-quality data entries, schedules, plans, and maintenance work are consistent with established guidance, directives, schedules and budgets.
Required Skills
1. Knowledge of highway maintenance methods, practices, and equipment
2. Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and competing priorities
3. Skill in collecting and analyzing data to create and maintain reports and records
4. Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
5. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
6. Ability to follow oral and written instructions
7. Knowledge of the policies and procedures related to assigned program areas
8. Skill in the use of computers and software applications to include MS Office, MS Excel and web-based systems
9. Ability to organize with attention to detail
10. Ability to work independently and cooperatively with others, exercising sound judgement
11. Ability to compile and analyze information in various formats, and prepare reports and letters
12. Ability to research problems, recommend solutions, and make sound decisions
13. Ability to interpret and apply agency policies and regulations
14. Skill in providing and promoting good customer service to internal and external customers
15. Knowledge of operations related to assigned program area
16. Skill in operating computers and software applications including automated financial, database, and specialized programmatic software
Minimum Qualifications
1. Valid driver's license
2. Experience tracking costs and preparing reports
3. Skill in the use of computers and software applications
4. Ability to gather data, conduct research, and create reports and correspondence
5. Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment, especially during emergency operations
6. Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures
7. Knowledge of highway maintenance methods, practices, materials, and equipment
8. Ability to schedule, plan, and monitor work activities
9. Skill in providing and promoting good customer service to internal and external customers
Additional Considerations
1. A combination of training, experience or education in roadway maintenance or construction
2. Erosion and Sediment Control Certification
3. Experience and knowledge in the use of engineering-based or mapping software applications

This position is classified as designated to emergency operations and may be required to work outside of normal work hours, on weekends and holidays during emergency situations which may include but are not limited to inclement weather, disaster response and emergency operations to ensure the safety of the traveling public.
