Your newpanyOur client, a collaborative and nurturing international firm, is looking for a Paralegal/Claims Handler to join their Professional Indemnity team in Bristol, who act on numerous high value and sensitive claims for clients throughout the UK including solicitors, surveyors, accountants, brokers, engineers, architects and their insurers. This role is based in our client's Bristol office (minimum of 2 days per week in the office). However, you will be able to work remotely from home for part of the week if desired as the firm operates a hybrid working policy. You will receive full training and consistent support.Your new roleYou will be working as part of an already established but growing claims handling team that handles professional indemnity claims made against professionals on an outsourced basis. The team handles claims on behalf of leading insurers, acting under delegated authority levels for pre-litigated matters from first notification of loss to resolution. You will be running a caseload which requires you to review and investigate cover, assist insured professionals, respond to claims and report to Insurers where necessary.Working with the Head of Claims and other team members, you'll be responsible for a technical and efficient delivery of service, as well as collectively, building and shaping the team for the future.
Day to day duties will include:
1. Reviewing insurance policy terms, identifying, investigating, and reporting potential issues to insurers.
2. Assisting Insureds to respond appropriately toplaints and claims, investigating externally where appropriate and considering at an early stage the merits and value of claims.
3. Negotiating settlement of claims within the delegated authority. Working efficiently,mercially, and equitably in line with delegated authority.
What you'll need to succeedYou will have prior Claims Handling and/or litigation experience; experience of Insurance is preferable but not essential. Ideally you will have a Law degree, or will be working towards ACII, CILEx or equivalent legal qualification, alternatively you might have significant experience in claims, with technical knowledge and expertise.An understanding of how to provide excellent customer service is essential and you will be hardworking, enthusiastic and motivated, withpetent skills in Microsoft Office. Previous experience of using a case management system is desirable.
