A very rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Payroll Administrator to join our passionate & friendly payroll team in Hampton, Peterborough on a full-time, permanent basis (37.5 hours per week). The team currently consists of 6 Payroll Administrators, 2 Seniors, Payroll Team Manager, 2 Assistant Managers and the Payroll Manager.
Working closely with our Senior Payroll Administrators & the Payroll Team Manager you will be a key part of the payroll team. Working effectively and collaboratively with all colleagues you will ensure the successful delivery of a high quality, accurate payroll function.

We work on a rotad basis and the shift times are as follows:
8am 4pm, 9am 5pm & 9.30am 5.30pm
Key Responsibilities
* Assisting with the processing of pay cycles for the monthly 8,000 employees ensuring they are completed in a timely manner and that payments are correct.
* Ensuring the prompt and accurate processing & checking of data such as overtime, sickness and other absences affecting pay either in a manual or in electronic format.
* Processing any changes affecting pay are completed accurately.
* Assisting with the timely processing and recovery of overpayments as well as recoveries of any other third party claims.
* Responding to general enquiries (telephone, email, personal and written) from Mencap staff and external sources in a prompt and efficient manner.
* Contributing to the continuous improvement of the Payroll function and its process.
We are looking for a self-motivated individual, an effective communicator and be able to build and maintain positive working relationships. You will have strong attention to detail, good overall administration skills with the ability to solve problems effectively and efficiently.
The Payroll Administrator will be accountable for his/her individual contribution to the team delivery of the service and its performance. S/he will perform allocated tasks as effectively as possible in order to drive successful service and team performance.
The Payroll Administrator will promote the reputation of the service with internal and external customers through his/her own strong performance, excellent customer service and effective management of own time. S/he will be a positive ambassador for the service and the wider Business Support Centre.
Key Skills & Experiences
* Previous experience working as a Payroll Administrator is desirable.
* A good understanding of general payroll legislation is highly desirable.
* Must be qualified to a minimum of GCSE level Maths & English or equivalent.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this position.
* Computer literacy is essential along with experience using Microsoft packages such as Word & Excel.
* Experience working with ResourceLink would be advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided.
