Learning Support Assistants (LSA) / Teaching Assistants (TA) - SEND
Are you a confident Teaching Assistant (TA)? Do you enjoy making a real difference in teenagers' lives? Have you got a good sense of humour? Then look no further! We are recruiting two Teaching Assistants (TA) and a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for an exciting secondary school in Swindon. The school is mainstream but has some students with SEND and SEMH needs, so you will need to be highly adaptable.
The school is ideally looking for people available full-time but is flexible for part-time hours for the right candidates.
Teaching Assistants (TA)
These roles are very varied as you will be working across the school, perfect for someone who is proactive and enjoys working with a range of people. In these roles, you will support a few pupils 1-1 during lessons or sometimes be called upon to be a general classroom assistant. You will need to be happy to get stuck in here, as one day you may be helping out with scientific experiments, and the next you could be supervising a messy art lesson! For these roles, you will need to be highly proactive, approachable, and easy to talk to while also maintaining good behaviour management.
Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
This role will be stationed in the Learning Centre. You will be working in a small team to support students' learning outside the mainstream classroom. This may mean leading interventions for small groups or working 1-1 with a student who needs extra support. There is also a full-time behaviour specialist in the Centre, who you will work closely with to support students who have left their lessons for SEMH reasons. For this role, you will need to be calm, empathetic, and able to develop strong relationships with pupils to support them with their work.
The ideal candidate will:
1. Have experience working with students with SEN/SEND needs, ideally Autism.
2. Enjoy thinking on their feet and be able to adapt the learning to meet the needs of the student.
3. Be able to work in a small team as well as independently.
4. Be able to build and maintain a strong rapport with a range of students.
This post is ongoing, starting ASAP, and may become permanent for the right person if that is what is best for the student. It is full-time, Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 3:30, with pay rates starting at £83.40 per day.
Please note that for all roles, you MUST have a DBS on the Update Service or be able to get one.
