To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com (https://www.cibc.com/en/about-cibc.html) Purpose of Job Trading Credit Risk (TCR), CMRM, is responsible for ensuring that credit risk is adequately monitored for the Europe and Asia counterparty wholesale business, and for analyzing counterparty credit information of CIBC wholesale credit counterparties in support of limit and trading recommendations. Trading floor based, and requires significant interaction with trading and sales staff, as wells as senior management in the European and Asia region. Expected to keep abreast of developments in an ever-changing businesses and to implement best practice/ regulatory guidance in the area of credit measurement and credit counterparty analysis. Main Objectives The ED - Head for Europe & Asia Trading Credit Risk, CMRM is charged with managing the TCR team in Europe and Asia, establish regional counterparty credit risk appetite, adjudicate on Bank & Sovereign and NBFI, trading floor credits and transactions and work with the broader Capital Markets Risk Management teams to understand, analyse and present the credit risk associated with the European and Asian Wholesale Trading business. Responsible for managing the following activities; - Lead and manage the European and Asia Trading Credit Risk Management team and the local Limit Monitoring Group resource and develop an effective risk culture, empower local ownership and maintain a robust local control environment supported by risk limits, policies, standards, guidelines, processes and/or controls for the management of risks in the regions. - Review and assess Europe & Asia Bank & Sovereign Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFI) and global CCP credits presented to the CMRM group by Corporate Banking. Recommend a view on credit appetite. Structure and trading documentation for all counterparts and approve credit transactions. - Adjudicate and provide credit approval for Europe, MEA and APAC Bank and Sovereign, NBFI, Prime Brokerage and Structured Credit counterparties under terms and conditions of signed Delegated Bank & Sovereign and NBFI Credit Approval Authorities. Maintain adjudication turnaround, expiry and limit monitoring statistics within expected benchmarks and RAS metrics. - Support VP CMRM Europe & APAC, SVP TCR, and local SVP & CRO in identifying material risks in Europe and Asia including emerging and strategic risks. - Manage, challenge and resolve directly internal challenges from business including trading limit increases, approvals and managing of exposures to riskier entities. - Work with the Trading Documentation Group to ensure best practice documentation standards for OTC derivative and securities finance transactions trading documentation with counterparts. Approve non-standard documentation terms within delegated authority. - Provide coaching and develop highly engaged regional TCR teams to align to our client-focused purpose. - Perform ongoing portfolio monitoring on Europe and Asia risk exposures and counterparty credits; prepare & review regular risk reporting and provide summary of newsworthy credit events to local EXCO and ALCO. - Perform yearly Bank Credit committee and QCCP stress testing program and report to Credit committee and Capital Markets Stress Testing Committee and Traded Risk Committee. Enhance stress testing to include specific regional and IMM stress results. - Exercise judgement through adjudication of credit risk in excess of existing limits. Review credit risk excesses for Europe and Asia monitored credits. Manage successfully complex counterparty credit risks. - Provide timely and accurate credit exposure to traders in support of new business. - Monitor, Review and present a view on the credit risk associated with new local and global business initiatives ( i.e. GCF,SSA trading). Implement process improvements and efficiency savings to current local governance and risk management processes. - Organize and perform due diligence visits to counterparts. Skills / Knowledge Required - Numerate graduate with good systems skills (excel, Bloomberg) - preferably academic/professional background in Mathematics, Finance, CFA - Minimum 10 years of direct credit risk experience - preferably with successful record of complex credit decisioning and senior credit authority for Global Banks, Sovereigns, Supranational, Agency credits and Non- Bank financial institution credits including asset managers, hedge funds, broker dealers and central clearing counterparties. - Team management and people leadership experience. - Detailed knowledge of cash, securities financing and derivative markets, traded products, trading documentation and good understanding of market and operational risk management concepts. - Strong, mature personality with ability to manage team and deal with complex and demanding decisions and interactions. Coordinate and develop robust relationships with clients, regulators, front office and senior management. - Excellent communication skills, and the ability to articulate and present/ communicate complex issues to a wider audience. - Ability to work under pressure to deal with credit specific requests in a live deal environment. - Drive regional specific risk management to best practice. - Ability to work with, and to leverage off, business and infrastructure groups to deliver results.
