ABOUT RxBIOLOGICS
The RxCelerate group of companies provides a platform for out-sourced drug discovery and development services and has a client base ranging from virtual biotech companies to some of the top 15 global pharmaceutical companies. We design and deliver complete drug development programmes from inception through to and including Phase II clinical studies. RxBiologics is a subsidiary of RxCelerate with a focus on delivery of biologics drug discovery. Our aim is to become the antibody drug developer of choice for the UK’s venture backed biotech start-ups and outsourced pharma projects.
RxBiologics has an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated scientist to join us and help develop our services to support our growing client base. The position is based within the RxBiologics team, working at the Babraham Research Campus, a leading site within the Cambridge biotechnology hub.
THE ROLE
The successful candidate will join our team of scientists supporting client antibody drug discovery programmes and internal technical development. They will primarily perform molecular biology techniques, phage display selections and antibody characterisation assays. This is a full-time, lab-based role and it is expected that the successful candidate will perform experimental work to a high standard. They will have a strong interest in antibody drug discovery, be an exceptional team-worker with motivation to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities.
Main Responsibilities
1. Perform antibody phage display selections and screening to support internal and external programmes.
2. Develop and optimise biochemical plate-based screening assays (ELISAs, TR-FRET assays).
3. Run biochemical and cell-based profiling assays for antibody characterisation.
4. Analyse experimental data to enable profiling or selection of best antibody candidates.
5. Provide cross-functional support for delivery of drug discovery campaigns.
6. Report work to line manager and the science team.
7. Maintain accurate experimental records and deliver high-quality reports.
8. Support laboratory operations to ensure smooth functioning.

Minimum Requirements
1. A PhD (or equivalent demonstrated experience), with experience gained in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry.
2. Hands-on experience with antibody display platforms, ideally phage display libraries.
3. Skilled in molecular biology and microbiological techniques such as PCR, cloning, gel electrophoresis, DNA sequence analysis and aseptic cell culture.
4. Experience of plate-based immunoassays, e.g. ELISA, and/or homogeneous assay formats.
5. Working knowledge of kinetic analysis of binding interactions by SPR.
6. Experience of mammalian cell culture and developing and running plate-based cell assays is an advantage.
7. Ability to accurately plan experiments and interpret data to support decision making.
8. A flexible approach to work with excellent organisation and prioritisation skills.
