We have an exciting opportunity for a Design Analyst to join the EMRS Architecture and Design team on a 12 month fixed-term contract. The Design Authority function sits within the EMRS Architecture and Design Team and is responsible for maintaining the overall design of the EMR service including systems, processes and technology. The team works closely with the Business Analysts, Architects and Vendor development teams to ensure solutions are formulated in-line with regulatory requirements and focus on the user interactions and experience. The team also provides expertise on the schemes EMRS schemes administers on behalf of its key stakeholders. The Design Analyst will demonstrate expertise in system design techniques and apply best practices while formulating design solution options for CRs and projects. They will provide excellent customer service and support in resolving some of the complex service desk queries for Electricity Suppliers, Generators and Capacity Providers as well as providing support to ESC and LCCC on EMR system related queries. The Design Analyst will contribute to the delivery of the EMRS Technology roadmap by ensuring that system vendors implement solutions that align with the EMRS Architecture and Design principles. They will support the lead roles within EMRS and Elexon to promote effective cross function delivery. The key responsibilities of the Design Analyst include having a deep understanding of the CfD, RAB and CM rules and regulations and how the rules of the schemes are implemented in the key systems used in EMRS. They will comprehend complex information and translate it into understandable written and illustrative material. The Design Analyst will be responsible for carrying out impact assessments on change initiatives, producing and maintaining design artefacts such as calculation models, wireframes for screens etc. for the EMRS systems for all projects and programmes of work. They will build relationships with key stakeholders and influence and negotiate / challenge decisions and viewpoints related to problems and solutions put forward by stakeholders including internal EMRS teams. The Design Analyst will understand the interdependencies between technology, operational and business needs. They will support the EMRS Solution Architect in devising design-driven solutions by providing them SME knowledge and artefacts for the schemes and user interactions with the system. The Design Analyst will contribute to the development and evolution of technical roadmap, design governance processes, guidelines and relevant standards. They will contribute to the up-keep of the EMRS Architecture and Technology roadmap. The critical capabilities of the Design Analyst include being self-motivated, willing to take ownership of tasks assigned, with the flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines, and ability to deliver under pressure. They will have an ability to positively build and maintain professional relationships with customers, stakeholders and colleagues. The Design Analyst will be pro-active and willing to contribute to all projects and team activities. They will be proficient in using design patterns and industry best practices for system design and analysis. The Design Analyst will have knowledge of the CM, CfD and Nuclear RAB Schemes and in particular, EMRS' role within those schemes. They will drive recommendations for improvements across the functional and non-functional aspects of the solution. The Design Analyst will review design artefacts and proposals from vendor teams to ensure they are consistent with the design principles. They will have experience working across all the various stages of the project / product lifecycle, from inception to operations, support and eventual decommissioning. The Design Analyst will be familiar with Sparx Enterprise Architect Tool and / or equivalent Model Driven UML tools, DevOps, Jira or equivalent Issue and Project Managing software. The developmental/desirable capabilities of the Design Analyst include being from a systems development or technical analyst background with understanding of software development life cycle, project management principles or equivalent project management methodologies such as Waterfall and Agile. They will have knowledge of the BSC arrangements, systems, processes and governance and how these interact with the delivery of the EMRS service. The Design Analyst will have knowledge of Microsoft Azure and supporting technologies. They will have TOGAF or BCS Systems Design techniques diploma or BCS Practitioner Certificate in Enterprise and Solution Architecture, equivalent professional qualification or experience. The critical competencies of the Design Analyst include taking accountability, delivering at pace with quality, forward thinking, and focused on customer value. The developmental/desirable competencies of the Design Analyst include leading the change. The potential next role(s) for the Design Analyst include EMRS Solution Architect and EMRS Lead Design Analyst.
