A pupil referral unit specializing in Social, Emotional & Mental Health difficulties in students aged between Key Stage 2 up to Key Stage 4 provides stability, education, and empowerment while also taking into account the learners' individualized, differentiated learning styles. Job Description:
As a Teaching Assistant specializing in behavior, you will operate within agreed professional ethical and school policies when working with pupils and those involved with them. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Encouraging and supporting staff in a positive manner.
2. Using restraint training methods when presented with difficult escalating behaviors.
3. Supporting pupils to overcome their crises and deal with the consequences.
4. Assisting integration for the child into the rest of the class/group.
5. Maintaining good working relationships with other staff members.
6. Empowering pupils and encouraging positive regulation of social and emotional skills.
7. Supporting the child to focus in class and keep them on task to complete work that is set.
8. Developing positive and trusting relationships with the pupils.
9. Listening to the child and offering appropriate support if necessary.
10. Providing information for behavioral records and reporting back as required.
Job Specification:
* Must have at least 6 months solid experience working in a pupil referral unit, alternative provision, or similar setting.
* Level Two or above Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
* Must be proactive in your approach.
* Flexible in temporary work patterns.
* Team Teach trained is desirable; however, training can be provided.
* Enhanced DBS subscribed to update service or willing to apply for one.
