Main duties of the job Main Duties and Responsibilities1. To be responsible for the assessment of individualised care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for patients attending for endoscopic and other related procedures.2. Assisting with endoscopic procedures.3. Help retain high standards of care4. To be an active member of the multi disciplinary working team.5. Ensure that agreed standards of nursing practice within the department are maintained.6. Ensure that all Trust and DOH, Health and safety and COSHH policies are adhered to.7. Preceptorship and support of new staff within the Department.8. Mentorship of nursing students.9. Ensure the safe custody and administration of drugs.10. Participate in the multi- professional endoscopy user group meetings when required.11. To ensure that quality standards are met at all times.12. To undertake specific projects requested by the Senior Sister/Sister.13. Assisting in the effective use of all departmental resources.14. To be flexible with working hours to meet the needs of the service. 15. Participate in the out of hours on call service. 16. To ensure the safe discharge of all patients from endoscopy with appropriate follow up and education.17. Effective use of computer systems within the department.18.
