This role will have responsibility for planning and executing the Capital portfolio plan for 2 UK Drinks sites. The role will also have an input into forward strategy for the defined sector.
To coordinate a defined sector of the Group Engineering function to help the business achieve optimal operational efficiency at lowest cost through the delivery of targets against the strategic objectives of the function:

To work closely with the Group Project Controller and equivalent grades in the Group Supply functions and the wider directorial team to support the delivery of an agreed manufacturing vision and strategy.
To lead and manage a sub-sector of the Group Engineering team to help the business deliver current and future volume requirements ensuring maximum efficiency throughout all manufacturing processes and continuously driving a culture of high performance. Responsible for ensuring all major projects within a defined sector are delivered to the pre-agreed costs, schedules and performance criteria.
Key Responsibilities
6. Responsibility for planning and executing the Capital portfolio plan for 2 UK Drinks sites. The role will also have an input into forward strategy for the defined sector.
7. Working with site engineering and production teams to manage the implementation of capital projects from initial concept, Capex paper creation through to successful conclusion and sign-off, including: Preparation and enabling work, Installation and commissioning and Training and performance trials.
8. Works with the project sponsor and steering team to clearly define project business drivers, objectives, and success criteria.
9. Responsible for the creation of budget plans within the post holders area of responsibility
10. To manage and motivate the engineering teams ensuring that they have the appropriate skills, knowledge and experience necessary to carry out engineering projects effectively.
11. Undertake technical and equipment benchmarking where appropriate to ensure the company continues to maintain its competitive edge.
12. Develop a culture of ownership within the team for the on-going development of the facilities.
13. Evoke a proactive approach to change and improvements in the performance of the sites.
14. Ensure compliance with Group Engineering standards, legislation and best practice with regard to health & safety and CDM regulations at all times.
15. Working in partnership with purchasing in the management of the procurement process and liaison with contractors and suppliers to negotiate best value for money.
16. Assist with the development and implementation of Group Engineering standards for the business and ensure compliance at all times.
17. Development of designs, technical specifications and layout drawings for the procurement of process and production equipment including:
18. Evaluation of tender submissions
19. To challenge the status quo, driving a culture of best practice and continuous improvement that focuses on elimination of waste in all forms.
20. Raise and approving where applicable, capital purchase orders and authorise the payment of invoices through SAP, ensuring that project costs are managed within agreed budgets.
21. Issues monthly reports detailing the progress against budget of cost, schedule and performance for live capital projects.
22. To maintain product Food Safety, Legality, Integrity, Authenticity and Quality standards by ensuring all associated policies and procedures are adhered to.
Role Requirements Experience Required
23. Graduate or of graduate caliber, ideally with a further engineering qualification, hands-on experience with a demonstrable track record of success.
24. Demonstrable track record of achieving results / managing change.
25. Strong operational grounding within a complex fast moving manufacturing environment.
26. Operated and familiar with implementation of the principles of World Class Manufacturing environments / Continuous Improvement methodologies.
27. Track record of leadership in the planning and subsequent implementation of capital investment in production facilities.
28. Excellent understanding of project management systems.
29. Experience of delivering results against financial targets, service levels and safety standards.
30. Good working knowledge of operating systems such as SAP, AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
31. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
