Pay: £13.50-£14.50 per hour
Contract Type: Full-time Monday to Friday 08:15am-15:15pm
Term time only.
Start date: Monday 3rd March 2025.
Do you thrive in a compassionate, supportive, and dynamic educational environment? Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Teaching Assistant to join a Autism Base team in a lovely high school.
Role Summary
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with children on the autism spectrum, supporting their academic, social, and life skills development. You will be responsible for:
* Delivering lessons to small groups in core subjects (Maths, English, Humanities etc).
* Assisting with life skills sessions and engaging in hands-on activities.
* Offering tailored support to meet each child’s individual learning needs.
* Managing and responding to challenging behaviour with empathy and firmness.
Key Responsibilities
* Support lesson planning and deliver structured learning sessions (with guidance and training from the team).
* Foster a positive learning environment that promotes social and emotional well-being.
* Provide one-on-one and small group interventions to boost academic progress.
* Use a range of strategies to help children overcome barriers to learning.
* Monitor and record progress, offering feedback to teachers and parents.
* Help promote independence and self-confidence in life skills activities.
* Collaborate with the wider teaching team to adapt to the evolving needs of each child.
Requirements
* A degree or equivalent qualification.
* Experience working with children with special educational needs (preferably autism).
* A compassionate, adaptable, and patient attitude.
* The ability to remain calm and firm when managing challenging behaviours.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* A genuine passion for creating an inclusive, supportive learning space.
