The Opportunity We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Senior Commercial Manager to join the Bidding Team within Amey Consulting. The bidding team covers a wide range of opportunities from traditional lump sum projects to large Government led frameworks and major one-off projects. The services that we’ll be bidding for can include everything from traditional engineering design to data science and IT platforms, to environmental commissions. Most of our contracts are now drafted under the NEC forms of contract but can also include bespoke contracts.We also extensively use joint venture agreements, teaming agreements and other forms of agreement to work collaboratively with other supply partners. Bids can range in size from £20k to £100m. You’ll be responsible for analysing the bid documents to identify risks and opportunities and work closely with the Estimators to determine to most optimal commercial strategy to win the work. You’ll also be responsible for bid governance papers to enable the business to better understand the proposition and sign off the final submissions. Key responsibilities: Promote the Amey “Zero Harm” Safety Culture and supports delivery of the Target Zero Action Plans. Analyse bidding documents to identify contractual and delivery risks and elements that will need specific group approvals. Understand the opportunities that the bid documents may present to present a more commercial advantageous price. Understand the unique offering that Amey has and how this can be maximised within our bid submissions. Identify, script and administer any tender queries that need to be asked to gain clarity on commercial or contractual issues. Administer the commercial evaluation tools to determine risk levels. Attend any client dialogue meetings during the tender period. Produce bid approval documentation including bid evaluation documents and presentations. Work closely with any bidding partners to derive a mutually advantageous, commercially efficient bid submission. Promote and develop commercial collaboration and effective working relationships with other Business Units in Consulting and across the wider Amey. Creating and developing effective relationships with Group functions such as Legal, Finance, Tax and Secretariat departments. Champion process and systems to bring efficiency to commercial management. Work within the leadership team to develop, implement, monitor and review the commercial deliverables within the bidding pipeline. Lead the handover of commercial strategy to the delivery team upon mobilisation of awarded contracts. Coach and develop commercial staff under your influence to enable them to grow and develop their futures and the succession of others to replace them.
