Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Position is scheduled for 20 hours per week, during the Martin Gipson Socialization Center’s normal business hours of 8am-5pm, M-F.
Position Summary Information
Primary Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Director of the Martin Gipson Socialization Center, provide transportation support for members of the Martin Gipson Socialization Center and Community Re-Entry Program.
Essential Functions
* Provide transportation support to Consumers of San Joaquin County Behavioral Health Services. This includes, but is not limited to:
* Provide off-site transportation for Consumers to access community resources in San Joaquin County, (i.e., SJCBHS, pharmacies, drop-in centers, board and care homes, etc.).
* Drive a seven-passenger automatic van or four-passenger car on a scheduled basis.
* Adhere to a weekly driving schedule.
* Follow strict safety guidelines to ensure the safety and well-being of all riders.
* Maintain the interior of assigned van to guarantee a clean and sanitary environment for Consumers being transported.
* Perform pre and post-trip vehicle inspections.
* Perform related clerical tasks, (i.e., record and submit data on rides, destinations, number of Consumers served, mileage, etc.).
* Operate office machines (e.g., copiers, scanners, fax machines) and personal computer.
* Have basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and ability to use email.
* Assist in the communication of Consumer needs to appropriate staff.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of the Martin Gipson Socialization Center.
Minimum Qualifications
* Valid California driver’s license, and zero points on California driving record at the time of hire.
* High School Diploma or GED.
* Ability to pass background/sanction checks for the funding agency(ies).
Preferred Qualifications
* Paid or volunteer experience driving and transporting passengers in a vehicle equipped for up to seven (7) passengers.
* Ability to follow oral and written directions.
* Positive attitude; proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity and inclusion.
* Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
* Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
* Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Valid driver’s license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University’s fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.
A Driver’s License Record, no older than 30 days must be submitted at the interview and verify zero points on your driving record. You can access your record online at: www.dmv.ca.gov for a $2.00 fee or at any field office for a $5.00 fee. Failure to submit bring record with the application will render your application incomplete and will not be considered for hire. Successful candidates will have to pass a defensive driving training and in person ride along upon hire.
Hiring Range
Hiring Range $16.87 per hour to $21.10 per hour. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
