Job Title: Standards Developer
Location: Home based
Occasional travel to Peterborough or Inchinnan offices – During the 3-month probation period intensive role training will be required onsite at one of the office locations, this may involve ad hoc overnight stays for up to 3 days

Role purpose:
The Standards Developer contributes to CITB’s strategic priority to support the construction industry to have a skilled, competent, and inclusive workforce now and in the future. As a Standards Developer, you will support CITB’s purpose by ensuring the construction sector has access to the appropriate standards, training, and qualifications. The role forms part of a larger team of Standards Developers who are responsible for the creation, development, and maintenance of a range of standards that underpin competence-based qualifications, including, but not limited to: Competence Frameworks, National Occupational Standards, Training Standards etc.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
Project Management
As a Standards Developer you will need strong Project Management skills ensuring that all elements of the project delivery including planning, monitoring and reporting against timescales, objectives, budget, and quality are delivered.
Standard Development and Maintenance
You will manage the life cycle of all standards including development, maintenance, and withdrawal of Short Duration Training Standards, National Occupational Standards, Competence Frameworks etc.
Stakeholder Engagement
You will organise, promote, facilitate, and chair National Working Groups made up from competent industry stakeholders to consult, design and develop new and existing standards of all types.
Product Knowledge and Sector Awareness
You will gain a complete understanding of the requirements of standards development for both regulated and unregulated standards.
Knowledge and Experience:
Essential:
2. Educated to A’ Level or equivalent/experience.
3. Project Management Qualification (Prince 2 or APM or APM Foundation).
4. Demonstrable experience and/or knowledge of the current education and skills landscape in construction, including qualifications, skills, and competence within the construction industry at all levels.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to enable persuading, influencing and negotiating.
6. Intermediate user skills in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Visio.
Desirable
7. Experience of working within a quality management system e.g. BS/EN/ISO.
8. Previous experience working with key stakeholders within the construction sector.
9. Technical writing experience.
10. Knowledge of qualifications and apprenticeship design and structure across all home nations.
Special Conditions/Other Requirements:
11. The post may require some working of non-standard hours as workload dictates.
12. Occasional travel and overnight stay may be required as part of working group meetings.
13. Carrying out additional duties as shall from time to time be required as workload dictates.
