Job Title:
Principal Structural Engineer
The Role:
We are seeking a skilled Principal Structural Engineer to join our team, working on complex structural steel analysis and design for critical submarine build programmes. This role involves leveraging expertise in structural engineering, applying standards such as Eurocodes and British Standards, while utilizing advanced tools like Abaqus and S-Frame.
Your Responsibilities:
* Conducting structural steel analysis for intricate designs.
* Supporting manufacturing, assembly, lifting, handling, and installation processes.
* Using finite element analysis, CAD modelling, and engineering schematics.
* Producing concept drawings, layouts, and technical outputs to meet project deadlines.
* Checking, approving, and validating engineering analyses and outputs.
Essential Skills & Experience:
* A degree in Engineering (BEng/MEng) or equivalent, or HND with significant experience.
* Expertise in structural steel analysis and mechanical engineering.
* Knowledge of lifting, handling, and LOLER regulations.
* Familiarity with tools such as Abaqus, Foran, MathCAD, and Excel.
* Experience in a production environment, ideally within marine or defence sectors.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Chartered Engineer status.
* Previous experience in shipbuilding, offshore, or civil industries.
