We are the Emergency Duty Service, working outside of normal hours, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays. Our team consists of experienced Managers and Practitioners, all qualified as Approved Mental Health Professionals, enabling us to meet requests for emergency assessments under the Mental Health Act. We also have experienced advisors who screen calls and provide advice or direct calls to the Social Work team. Our service operates on a 7-day shift rota, responding to emergency situations for Essex and Southend Borough Council.
What is the best part of your job?
We find it rewarding to help vulnerable adults and children out of hours, providing stability to crisis situations and supporting other professionals working in emergencies.
