Barton Family Practice is looking to expand their team with a suitably qualified phlebotomist.
The post holder will work under the supervision of the Lead Nurse and will undertake tasks and duties delegated by the Nursing/GP team.
Main duties of the job
They will work with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, following policy and procedures.
* Collection of samples of blood in accordance with training
* Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers
* Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity
* Checking patient identification against request, confirming with patient
* Recording collection of blood sample in patient record in accordance with practice procedures
* Ensuring samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories
* Ordering equipment/stock and maintaining supplies
* Ensuring anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff
* Notifying the GP/nurse of any significant patient issues
* Liaising with and assisting members of the reception team
* Liaising with and assisting members of the nursing team
* Working within practice infection control processes/procedures

Purpose built premises with District Nurses, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, CBT therapists on site.
Research practice.
4 Partners, Clinical Pharmacist, Nurse Practitioner, 2 Nurses, Nurse Associate, HCA, and Phlebotomist.
Well organised reception and Admin team.
EMIS Web, AccuRx, DOCMAN 10 and workflow management.

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of working with patients
* Experience of working within a GP practice setting
* Experience of working with EMIS clinical system although full training will be provided to the right candidate.
