THE ROLE OF BREAKFAST CHEF As a breakfast chef you'll run the breakfast operation, ensuring a smooth breakfast service. Setting up the kitchen with cooking utensils and equipment, such as knives, pans and kitchen scales Studying each recipe and gather all necessary ingredients Cooking food in a timely manner and ensuring appealing plate presentation Slightly modifying recipes to meet customers’ needs and requests (e.g. reduce salt, remove dairy) Monitor food stock and place orders Check the freshness of food and discard out-of-date items Understand the importance of being organised, having a clean section and ordering the right amount of food to minimise wastage Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area Ensuring cleanliness of the kitchen and equipment within the kitchen Be keen to learn and able to think on your feet - versatility is the name if the game Be a problem solver to proactive resolve issues to support the Head Chef Follow all health and safety procedures Have a real passion for cooking and be keen to learn and develop in your chef career SOURCE at Gilpin Hotel Ollie Bridgwater – Executive Chef – One Michelin Star Ollie has created his own unique Lake District restaurant with sourcing, local produce and sustainability at the top of his agenda, topped with a sprinkling of culinary magic and storytelling that pushes the boundaries of what diners have come to expect. “SOURCE is a fun, vibrant restaurant that provides a great place to come & have an amazing, inspiring experience, and at the same time providing a professional engaging place for people to work in & be a part of.”
