Consultant in Anaesthetics with an Interest in Obstetric Anaesthesia
Applicants with a CCT in Anaesthesia and Advanced or Intermediate training in Obstetric Anaesthesia to join our dynamic team in providing anaesthesia and obstetric services to the population of Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.
Main duties of the job
Weekly Labour ward and elective caesarean list sessions.
Broad base of practice in general anaesthesia in DGH practice, including General surgical, Colorectal, Paediatric, ENT, Urology and Gynaecology.
One in 15 on-call commitment primarily covering Glangwilli Hospital but also providing support to resident anaesthetic cover in Prince Phillip Hospital in Llanelli.

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Qualifications
Essential
1. Full and specialist GMC Registration in Anaesthetics with a Licence to Practice
2. Certificate of Completion of Training in anaesthetics or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration in Anaesthetics (or equivalent) or within 6 months of issue of CCT
3. Or CESR or equivalent European Qualifications for Specialist Registration
4. Fellowship of the Royal College of anaesthetics (FRCA) (or equivalent)
5. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree
Desirable
6. Appropriate Higher Degree MD, PhD or MSc or equivalent
Clinical Experience
Essential
7. Broad based experience in Anaesthesia
8. Intermediate training in obstetric anaesthesia
9. Recent senior trainee, fellow or locum Consultant level experience in Anaesthesia (or equivalent)
10. Sufficient experience to participate in on-call provision of paediatric resuscitation and stabilisation services alongside paediatric colleagues
11. Evidence of valid advanced life support skills
