GSL Education are thrilled to offer an opportunity for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a supportive primary school in Gateshead. This role provides the chance to make a meaningful impact on students' lives while working in a rewarding and inclusive environment. Responsibilities of a SEMH Teaching Assistant : Provide one-on-one or small group support to primary-aged students with SEMH needs. Assist the class teacher in creating and delivering tailored learning plans to meet individual student requirements. Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where students feel supported and valued. Implement behaviour management strategies to encourage positive engagement and development. Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and other staff members. Support students during class activities, breaks, and other school routines. Requirements of a SEMH Teaching Assistant : Experience working with children with SEMH needs, ideally in a primary school setting. A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students with additional challenges. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build positive relationships with students and staff. A relevant qualification, such as a Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, is advantageous. A solid understanding of safeguarding and child protection protocols. Why Join GSL Education?
