We are now recruiting Automation Maintenance Technicians at Midlands Super Hub, Dirft East Crick, Northampton, NN6 7GZ. In this role your potential earning will be over £55k per annum.
We have an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of this transformation, working as part of the critical engineering maintenance team at Royal Mail’s new, flagship parcel processing facility in Northampton, the Midlands Parcel Super Hub. The hub will have a processing capacity of over a million parcels per day and is the first of its kind within the business, leading the way in our transformation from being a letter led to a parcel led company.
Salary: £51,051 per annum, night shift allowance of £2,500 per annum, a defined contribution pension scheme, with 22.5 days (15 shifts) annual leave plus bank holidays and free parking. A weekend supplement for Saturday (£51 per attendance) and Sunday (£102 per attendance) shift attendance.

Shift pattern:
The successful candidate will be required to follow the shift rotation system, with some degree of voluntary flexibility to meet our 24/7 operational needs on occasion, including voluntary overtime coverage and occasional shift pattern flexibility.
You will work 12 hour shifts which includes two weeks earlies 07:00 - 19:00 and two weeks nights 19:00 - 07:00 and will include rest days.
The Role
Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of automation assets through completion of effective maintenance procedures.
Key aspects of the role include:
* Perform maintenance tasks, including preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance
* Perform continuous improvement activities
* Provide effective and efficient support to the Engineering Manager, Maintenance Team Leads, completion of end of shift reports, fault logging and data entry
* Identify the root cause of automation breakdowns and prioritize corrective actions to meet operational processing requirements
* Monitor equipment performance and improve automation outputs in collaboration with operational stakeholders. Identifying and working on Continuous Improvement projects, conception to implementation ownership, for machinery in the Hub Mail Centre
* Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team to achieve common goals
About you
As an experienced multi-skilled engineer, you’ll be qualified in electrical and mechanical engineering (minimum ONC Electrical Engineering NVQ Level 3 – or equivalent). Understanding Health & Safety legislation, you’ll have first-hand experience of maintaining automation equipment, ideally Programme Logic Controllers (PLC), along with a flexible approach and the ability to communicate complex issues effectively.
