Senior Veterinary Surgeon – Step Up, Stand Out, Shape the Future
Looking for your next big move? Maybe you're ready to take on more responsibility or step into a Senior Vet position where your experience and ideas are truly valued. If that sounds like you, we’d love to chat!
This is an exciting opportunity to not only continue delivering outstanding clinical care but to also play a key role in shaping the future of a progressive, supportive, and well-established practice.
We’re a close-knit, forward-thinking team who are always looking to grow, evolve, and improve – and we’re ready for someone like you to help lead the way.
The Role at a Glance:
Salary of up to £70,000 depending on experience
Ideally full-time (Monday–Friday, 8:30am–6:30pm) – but part-time and flexible patterns are absolutely up for discussion
40-hour week with no weekends or out-of-hours
Protected lunchbreaks – every single day
Support for further training and certificates, especially if surgery’s your passion
We’re looking for a Vet with solid clinical experience in first opinion practice – a great all-rounder who enjoys mentoring, coaching, and helping others grow. You'll be keen to take the lead on clinical standards and be actively involved in the direction of patient care.
Who We Are:
We're an RCVS-accredited practice with a proud history of providing exceptional care to pets across the local area for well over a century. These days, we blend our rich heritage with modern facilities and state-of-the-art equipment – think digital X-ray, ultrasound, multiparameter monitoring, in-house lab, and more – allowing us to deliver top-tier care in a relaxed and supportive environment.
We’re passionate about workplace wellbeing and proud to hold a 3-star “World Class” rating for employee engagement from Best Companies. Basically, we care about our people as much as we care about our patients.
The Team:
You’ll be joining a friendly, supportive crew of experienced Vets, RVNs, SVNs and admin superstars. We believe in creating a practice where everyone can pursue their clinical passions, grow their skills, and enjoy coming to work. Outside of work, we’re a sociable bunch who enjoy everything from pub quizzes and countryside dog walks to water sports and team outings. Don’t just take our word for it – here’s what our team says:
“I love the family feel to the practice. I joined as a student Veterinary Nurse, and I’ve progressed to Head Nurse with the support of my colleagues.” – Head Nurse
“It’s a fun working environment with a supportive team, especially when learning new skills.” – RVN
“I started here as a new grad, and the practice has been brilliant for developing my surgical and medical skills. We’ve got great clients and an awesome team.” – Vet
Location Perks:
You’ll be based in a charming market town on the edge of the Cotswolds – think independent shops, riverside pubs, and breathtaking countryside right on your doorstep. There’s also a water park nearby for those who love paddleboarding, kayaking, or just chilling by the lake. Fancy a change of pace? You're within easy reach of Oxford, Bristol, Bath, and London – perfect for weekend getaways or a big night out.
And Here’s What You’ll Get:
6.6 weeks paid holiday (including Bank Holidays)
£1750 CPD allowance per year
RCVS and two other memberships paid
VDS cover
Health Shield – from dentistry to sports massage, we’ve got your wellbeing sorted
Discounts, offers, and cashback on travel, shopping, entertainment & more
Enhanced parental and family leave policies
Discounted vet fees
Cycle to Work scheme
Sick pay
CPD and training support
Career progression opportunities
Annual pay reviews
Relocation package available, plus accommodation nearby if needed (let’s chat!)
Ready to make a real impact in a practice that’s proud of its past but focused on the future? We’d love to hear from you!
