MindSenseAbility (MSA) is a specialist therapy and education service based in the New Forest for young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), mental health difficulties, attachment disorders/developmental trauma and associated conditions. We provide bespoke educational therapeutic programmes delivered in a variety of environments. Our work is funded through contracts with Local Education Authorities, Adoption Services and the NHS. You will have extensive opportunities to work with parents, children, external professionals and schools.
We are now looking for an enthusiastic and committed
Band 7 (Preceptorship) or Band 8a Clinical Psychologist
to join our service and help in the delivery of the therapeutic elements of our programmes.
The successful candidate will hold a Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology and be registered with the HCPC. You will have previous experience of working with young people with complex needs, and their families. Work will include undertaking detailed psychological and psychometric assessments, formulating difficulties, and delivering high quality evidence-based therapeutic interventions, as well as consultation, liaison with staff teams and external services, teaching and training. You will bring flexibility, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with the other members of the multi-disciplinary team. The candidate should have a high level of oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work with young people and families who may be resistant to engaging in therapeutic input. The role will also involve supervising and managing other members of the team.
The candidate will enjoy the support of other committed professionals working to address the needs of young people. As a service, we are committed to offering regular opportunities for ongoing professional development. You will have access to clinical supervision, as required by professional standards, and must have access to a car as the post requires you to undertake community visits throughout the New Forest and areas within Hampshire and the IOW, and parts of East Dorset.
