About the role:
Our Social Media Team are looking to appoint a creative and enthusiastic Social Media and Content Officer to ignite our digital presence and help drive student recruitment at the University through engaging and innovative content.
The role will be based in the wider Marketing team which sits in the External Relations service at the University of Central Lancashire comprising; Student Recruitment, Communications and Events, International Recruitment, UK and International Partnerships and Widening Participation.
Our Marketing team plays a critical role in supporting the University’s wider strategic priorities to establish the brand and profile of the University on a regional, national and international basis, whilst enhancing the quality of communications and marketing to our wide range of stakeholders. This role takes day-to-day lead of our Student Content Creator Scheme, ensuring a pipeline of relevant user-generated content is regularly available for our target audiences. This role involves daily social media content planning and management of multiple channels as well as the curation of compelling social media creative with a particular focus on video content.
About you:
We're searching for a digital pioneer who's not afraid to venture into uncharted waters; an experienced social media expert who can confidently manage and evaluate our communications across a wide range of channels.
You will be a gifted storyteller, creating content that makes audiences sit up and notice. Your advanced technical skills make you adept at fashioning eye-catching messaging and producing inventive video content which makes people think, feel, laugh and cry. You’ll be passionate about the newest developments in digital-based communications and be able to deliver engaging solutions to help strengthen our online presence to a wide range of audiences. You will enable us to share our success stories with the world, promote our brand effectively and lead imaginative and distinctive student recruitment initiatives.
The next wave of 18-year-old students who are applying for University courses right now hail from 'Generation Z', but it’s important we prepare our content marketing for Gen Alpha too, so in-depth knowledge of running social media platforms is key so we can respond quickly and proactively to changes in the online digital landscape. Born into the 21st century, Gen Z and Gen Alpha are all 'digital natives' and insatiable consumers of online content who cannot remember a world before social media, which has always been part of their everyday lives. They relate to real, authentic content which is rich and deep in meaning yet easily consumable.
The successful candidate will be a results-orientated, all-round team player who is able to form relationships across the University with good commercial awareness and excellent communication skills unpinned by an Undergraduate Degree in a relevant subject area or sustained relevant work experience in digital and social media marketing. You must be able to produce exciting and dynamic content which resonates with Gen Z as well as other prospective and current students, alumni and the wider world.
