Job Title: Prison Custody Officer
Salary: £27,667.28 per annum (£13.61 per hour) increasing to £29,806.22 per annum (£14.66 per hour) dependent on length of service.
Contract: Permanent, Full Time – average 39 hours per week, with various shifts, with an opportunity to opt into an average 44 hours per week contract (starting Salary £32,991.08 per annum with access to overtime at enhanced rates).

Role Overview: Prison Custody Officers are key to the effective running of our prisons. We encourage applications from individuals from diverse backgrounds who can demonstrate integrity, resilience, and strong communication skills. No specific qualifications or relevant experience is required.
The philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate prisoners and equip them to re-integrate into society. We aim to create an environment where staff and prisoners feel safe.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure individuals are treated with dignity and respect.
2. Provide structure and routine for prisoners.
3. Ensure prisoners engage in education or work.
4. Maintain security within the prison environment.
Comprehensive training will be provided, including Control & Restraint, First Aid, Interpersonal skills, and Health & Safety. A shadowing period will allow you to gain real on-the-job experience.
Working Hours: You will work a variety of shifts, including weekends, evenings, and nights, on a rolling pattern agreed in advance.
