Job Title: Asset Engineer
Location: Falmer (Hybrid Working)
Salary: up to £55,000 (depending on experience)
Job Summary:
We are seeking to appoint an experienced and highly motivated Asset Engineer to join our dynamic team! The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of critical assets across the region, ensuring their safe and efficient operation at all times. You'll play a key role in identifying opportunities to improve asset performance, working closely with stakeholders to deliver value for money and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for end-to-end management of critical assets, including strategic planning, budgeting, and operational decision making;
2. Lead regular meetings with internal teams such as Operations & Maintenance staff to review asset health trends;
3. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to asset performance reporting (e.g., OFWAT’s AMP7);
4. Identify areas where asset performance can be improved through proactive maintenance plans or investment decisions;
5. Proactively engage with external parties such as contractors/suppliers regarding maintenance activities etc.;
6. Prepare monthly reports highlighting any emerging risks or issues relating to asset performance which need escalation beyond the immediate team;
7. Support other members of the asset strategy team by providing technical expertise when required;
8. Provide guidance and support to junior engineers within the team as needed.
Qualifications:
9. Chartered engineer status or equivalent level of competence gained through relevant work experience;
10. Demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects from start to finish;
11. Experience of project management techniques, ideally within a utilities industry setting;
12. Strong communication skills both written and verbal;
13. Ability to influence others without direct line management authority;
14. Knowledge of Water Industry processes would be advantageous but not essential;
15. Good IT literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (in particular Excel).
Package
This role will be full time Monday to Friday 37 hours a week.
