Oakridge Park is recruiting for a phlebotomist to work 25 hours per week on a fixed-term contract for the period of 3 months with the possibility to move to permanent.
Core hours:
* Monday - 7am to 12noon
* Tuesday - 8am to 1pm
* Thursday - 8am to 1pm
* Friday - 7am to 12noon

Main duties of the job
* Collection of samples of blood in accordance with training and procedures
* Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers
* Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity
* Checking patient identification against GP/nurse request and confirming with patient whenever possible
* Recording collection of blood sample in patient record in accordance with practice procedure
* Ensuring that samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion
* Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff
* Notifying the GP/nurse of any significant patient issues
* Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team
* Conducting ECGs as requested by clinical members of staff

The surgery
The building has been designed to provide a pleasant and welcoming environment, and it is equipped to very high standards. There is a large free car park. Please park considerately to allow maximum use. The area nearest the surgery entrance is reserved for disabled patients. Job responsibilities
The post holder must work as part of a team, can organise and prioritise their own workload on a day-to-day basis, and observe strict rules about confidentiality at all times. They must also know the limits of their own capabilities and seek direction from a Practice nurse, GP, or Practice Manager. Working under the supervision of the practice nursing team and strictly in accordance with specific practice or national guidelines and protocols, the Phlebotomist will be responsible for performing venepuncture to obtain blood samples from patients only as the result of a direct referral from a GP or nurse practitioner.
* To collect blood samples from patients through venepuncture as requested by clinicians and other appropriately authorised doctors and health professionals.
* To collect blood samples safely with due respect to the dignity of patients, and the needs of other clinical services.
* To ensure blood samples are collected in appropriate containers, labelled correctly, and prepared and dispatched to relevant laboratory sections in a timely and correct manner.
* To contribute to the provision of an efficient, high-quality service and ensure that proficiency and competence and personal and professional standards of that group are maintained.
* To conduct ECGs when requested by a clinical member of staff.

Qualifications
* GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
Experience
* Experience of working in General Practice
* Trained and Certified Phlebotomist
